5-Day Uganda Gorilla, Chimpanzee & Lake Mburo Safari
Overview
Our 5 days of gorillas, chimpanzees, and Lake Mburo national park tour give you a chance to meet the the remaining mountain gorillas and chimpanzees of Kalinzu forest , the Zebras, giraffes Impala, and many other animals in Lake Mburo. On this trip, you visit Bwindi gorilla national park a home to the mountain gorillas, and then Kalinzu Forest in Queen Elizabeth National Park for Chimpanzees and Lake Mburo that is famous for the Elands.
Day to Day Program
Day 1: Entebbe to Queen National Park
After early morning breakfast, start your journey to Queen Elizabeth National Park in Western Uganda, we will stop in Fort portal for lunch and then proceed to Queen Elizabeth national park that is in Kasese.Along the transfer you will see beautiful features that include mountains, Rocks and forests. Arrive at the park in the evening. You have chances to see land mammals like buffaloes, elephants, Uganda kobs, Lions and many others.
Day 2: Chimpanzee tracking and transfer to Bwindi
Wake up very early in the morning and go for chimpanzee tracking in Kalinzu forest reserve, spend 2-3 hours with the chimps then return to the lodge, you can have a mid-morning breakfast and transfer to Bwindi Impenetrable national park, arrive refresh, dinner and overnight at the lodge.
Day 3: Bwindi Impenetrable National Park
After breakfast leave for gorilla tracking with your packed lunch to track the rare mountain gorillas of Bwindi, have tracking gears with you like gloves, long-sleeved shirts, pants, sunglasses, socks, a hut insect repellant, energy-giving food, and enough drinking water. After 10 minutes transfer from your hotel to the starting point for briefing proceed to our tracking which is open from 2-6 hours of activity once you find these gentle intelligent apes, you spend a full hour with them.
Day 4: Bwindi to L.Mburo National Park
After early morning breakfast drive to Lake Mburo National park passing through Mbarara tow. Arrive at the lodge in a good time for lunch. We can choose to either do an evening game drive or boat cruise and have chances to see the giraffes, zebras impalas, Elands, Buffalo’s etc.
Day 5: Mburo to Entebbe Airport
After a hearty breakfast we head for a nature walk in the park. you will be escorted by the ranger guide who will show you most wildlife. You will come close to animals and birds on foot. Thereafter transfer to Entebbe, stretch your legs at the equator, photograph, and continue to the airport.Along the transfer you will see lots of Bahima-Akole traditional cattle.

Gorilla trekking points to Note: Gorilla tracking in Bwindi Impenetrable Forest (Uganda) Trails are steeper and less accessible, hence high levels of Energy is needed. Treks are often 2 to 3 hours each way (but can be more Or Less) and involve hiking through dense forest and traversing steep ravines and mountainsides, often in damp conditions. However, all this adventure is worthwhile for a glimpse of one of nature’s finest spectacles. There is a minimum age of 15 years on gorilla treks.
What to wear and bring with you on your gorilla trek: With changeable weather conditions and dense forest vegetation, it is advisable to take layers of protective clothing. We recommend wearing the following:
- T-shirt
- long-sleeved top
- warm fleece/jumper
- thick trousers
- thick wool socks (and gaiters preferably)
- strong lightweight, waterproof walking boots
- hat with brim
- garden gloves to aid scrambling up banks
And carry a small rucksack with:
- water
- packed lunch and snacks
- binoculars
- camera/video camera with spare battery, memory cards or film
- light-weight rain Mac / poncho
Walking sticks are available at the Park headquarters and porters can be hired for approx. US$20. A sealed plastic bag around the camera/lenses will help keep them dry on the trek. Pockets are useful for valuables and spare camera batteries/lenses etc. as all other equipment must be left with porters approx. 200 meters away from the gorilla groups.
